Oceanside/Family Time

We had the best weekend away at the coast. My brother, Daniel, and his adorable family came out to visit us. We did something we had never done before, went fishing for crab. It isn't as easy as it seems. We threw back more than we could keep.

Oliver was brave enough to pick one up.

 We rented a boat and went out on the bay. We took Lincoln and Annaly with us.

There seems to be a little bit of a learning curve, but it was all fun.

 

This is my beautiful niece, Annaly.  She is 6. She was brave enough to come out on the boat with her walking boot. She just healed from a leg spiral fracture. Cast free has to feel so good, especially because she broke it twice.  Sounds like someone else we know, except it was an arm.......Calvin!

This was the only crab we could keep. It was delicious!

The cottage was nice and cozy. We were right on the beach with stunning views of waves and large haystack-like rocks that protruded out of the water.

If our boys weren't tall enough, they have to go and stand on their tip-toes to appear even taller in the photos.

This is a nice way to end the day, a snuggle with George.

We had to do one more group photo with my sis in law, Sarah! There wasn't anyone close enough to take our photo.

Rainbow Unicorn

Have you ever happened upon something that made you stop and look? This is what I found in the parking lot at Bridgeport. A unicorn!  It's oil that leaked out of someone's car (lol), but it created beautiful, wondrous art.  Coco was with me and we marveled it at for awhile. She took the picture. The colors are so vibrant. Can you see it?

It was only a matter of time when we saw the unicorn because after shopping at Paper Source, the unicorn was gone. It was just color!  Still, so beautiful.

Macy Family Portraits

Once a year, I like to capture our children at their current age. They change so fast, I don't want to miss a thing. They groan all the way up to the very moment the photographer is getting out of her car and then something magical happens. They rally. I think it helps that it typically takes less than an hour all said and done.

Oliver 13, 7th grader

I want to note that this tall drink of water just passed up his older brother. Oliver stands at 6'2".
Bragging doesn't come easy when you have a scrappy older brother. They had to commemorate the occasion of Oliver being taller by brawling it out.  It's hard when you can't control your genetics, who your older brother is or your family. Lol. Calvin decided it's ok, because he can dunk a basketball and Oliver can't.

These three have such a tight bond, I love it.

 This was the back of our Christmas card for 2019

I love being creative and I had this idea rolling around in my head 6 months prior to our photos being taken. I was shocked the photographer caught George when she did. If it was a second later, she would have missed him and George wouldn't have made the card. He was off chasing birds and being happy he was free.

This was the front of our Christmas card. I really wanted an old fashioned truck for our card, but we didn't have one. I had settled for Cal's unfinished Scout. The day before the shoot, J-P saw this truck in the parking lot at Starbucks. He tracked down the owner and it happened to be a young man. J-P offered him money and he obliged because he was trying to save for pilot school. My heart leapt when I saw the truck pull up. It was the exact thing I had wanted in my mind to make this creative project perfect! I tell you friends, God is in the details!
