Even though the boys are not in Boy Scouts yet, our ward had a night prepared for an open class, unofficially of course. They were so excited and went to work painting and prepping their cars for the big race.
They took it very serious and picked out their own colors and painting scheme.
Mom would be so proud to see patriotic colors! These boys have pride for their country without even knowing it!
This is how they looked after J-P finished the final touches. They turned out beautiful, but after the race they looked beat up. They were missing wheels and looked worn for wear from racing. Oliver's was faster than Cal's in the end, and Oliver only won one of his races. It was such a learning experience and the boys look forward to future races. J-P is just as into it as the boys. He is keeping these cars and making a shadow box for all the cars that will be made in effort for the Pine Wood Derby.
What great memories they are making.

Love them! I especially love the idea of keeping all of them. We all know that J-P's handman work is AMAZING!!!!! Sure do miss you guys!
That is cool! I am jealous! Can't wait for our boys to get to do that too. Good Job you two!
Those are beautiful cars! Way to go Macy guys!! You have skills. As the co-creator of Pine Wood Derby winning cars, Steve says he will give you the secret to making fast cars (passed down to him by career Scout masters). Beauty and speed next year-- look at Oregon scouts!
